I was wondering if anyone had any ideas I am hoping a relay but have not had a chance to check yet. My 2003 7.3 powerstroke will start and and idle fine however the entire instrument cluster is not operating and the engine will not rev when you give it throttle. therefore the only thing my truck will do is idle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have a tow mode switch on the shift lever? If you do, check the fuse box and you will probally find that you have a blown 5-amp fuse, #19 I think, but check to be sure.
Big Mike is correct in that it is a blown fuse. My '02 F-350 PSD did it when I bumped the OD switch on the shifter while the truck was still cold. But I believe it is a 20amp not a 5amp. When looking at the panel under the steering column it is on the bottom row about three to five in from the right side..sorry I don't remember exactly and don't have my truck with me to look at. I will look when I go home for lunch and post again early this afternoon the exact one. It sure is frustrating when it happens while driving.
I had this prob once before I would def check that fuse. As far as I know that is one of the only things it could be. I would definately start there and see if that works.

It might be different on a 7.3 PSD, but on Ex with the V-10, it's a 5 amp fuse.
On my truck, if I'm running and driving while the fuse blows, the engine runs normally until I shut it off. I do lose the gauges though. If the fuse blows and I shut off the engine, then it starts and then shuts off as soon as you let go of the key from the start position.
Grab your owners manual and check the fuse for the OD switch, and on mine it's also the security PATS system.
