after a snow/ice/sleet/freezing rain storm here in ct this weekend it's 28 deg's, getting down to 16 degs tonite.this morning i cleaned the ice off the windshield of my 2000 ranger xlt 4x4 and drove about 5 mi so the truck was fully warmed up.i turned the wipers on and the wipers came to the full up position and stopped and would not return to the stop position.
the blades will twitch like it want's to work. could it be a broken part in the linkage or the linkage is frozen? i checked the fuse and that is good. any ideas? thanks otherwise it goes into the shop tommorrow. my wifes vw is in the shop today because her wipers failed yesterday, bad karma i guess.
Have a 1997 ranger and I also had wipers stop in the up position. I noticed they did not want to move. The fuse was good because the move about 1/8 of an inch and would try to move back but couldnot. I went for a ride to get heat under the engine compartment to melt it. I rode a 1/2 hour no luck. I came to the sight here to see others who had the freezing rain also had the problem they waited it out. I could move the wipers 1 way and that was it. I waited 2hours went out and tried and they where fine. The post really prevented me from digging in it was great. Harold J
I also live in CT (Higganum, just south of Middletown). I have an almost identical scenario to rangergolfer, except mine are still stuck in the up position. After scraping, parking in the sun, turning the truck around to catch the afternoon sun, spraying with de-icer... no luck. When I turn the truck on, they move about a 1/2 inch, so it appears as if they are trying to move. Any ideas?
