Engine oil capacity is 5quarts.
Transmission oil capacity is 4 quarts.
Differential fluid capacity is 3 quarts.
Radiator capacity I believe is 3 gallons.
As for changing to synthetics from non-synthetics is something of a large gap. Basically you don't want to go from non-synthetics to synthetics as the synthetics will clean the engine thoroughly and remove any 'false's seals, especially on an engine with high mileage. As for improving protective performance, this can be debated all day. I am under the impression synthetics provide better protection but not by much. As long as you change your truck's oils regularly and flush the radiator at regular intervals it will do just fine! Also regular oils are cheaper than synthetics. I understand though you want the best for your baby!
Hope this helps! :-)

Usually they don't account for the extra quart of oil in the filter when they state the oil capacity in manuals. Seems kin of strange to me, but that's how they do it.
One of the best investments you'll make is a manual for your truck. My Haynes was 16 bucks at Canadian Tire and is a very good read. Page 1-2 gives capacities as follows:
Engine oil (with new filter) - 6.0 qts
Cooling system (inline 6 only) - 14 qts
Manual trans: (US pints)
Ford 3-speed - 3.5
Ford SROD 4-speed - 4.5
NP435 4-speed with extension - 7.0
NP435 4-speed without extenstion - 6.5
Warner T-18, T18B, T19B 4-speed - 7.0
Mazda 5-speed - 7.6
ZF S5-42 5-speed - 6.8
Transfer Case:
NP 2-speed part-time - 6 to 6.5 pints
Warner 13-45 Full-time - 6 to 6.5 pints
Borg Warner 13-56 manual and electronic shift - 2 US quarts
Borg Warner 13-56 with PTO - 6.1 US quarts
Automatic Transmission:
C4 - 9.6 to 10.0
C5 - 11.0
C6 - 11.7 to 13.5
AOD - 12.0
E4OD - 16.2 to 17.7
Differentials: (US pints)
Ford 8.8 and 9.0" - 5.5
Ford 10.25 - 7.5
Dana 44IFS, IFS HD and 50IFS front - 3.6 to 4.0
Dana 60 front - 6.0
Dana 60, 60-5, 61-1, 61-2, and 62 - 6.0
Dana 70 - 6.5
Dana 70 HD - 6.0 to 7.5
Hope that helps you out!

Yes - that helps a lot.
I purchased the original shop manuals but believe it or not the capacities are not in there. These are the original 1990 service manuals from Ford !! Seem to cover everything else in detail.
Thanx. :7
I know I should fill to the dipstick indicator. But does anyone have the capacity spec on the power steering system, if I were to do a complete flush?
I plan to put Type F after I rebuild the pump.

I don't know the true capacity, but when I did a good flush, I bought a gallon. flushed until good and clear, filled, and had over a quart left over. It got rid of the howl at full stop too.
