Air Bag System Calculates the speed your traveling and the force of impact to regulate Pretensioner striength and explosetion. Thats what that little Module does the control the Air bag system. Keeping that in mind you may have been slipping in the rear and the computer thought you were traveling alot fast then the said "15-20." You know that saying "it a 1:1,000,000 shot" I guess your the one Case. I asked around with the guys in the shop and asked the body shop about it. My Buddy at the Body shop said he saw it once a Chevy 2500, but the kid who was drive put the truck into a bank at Full throttle, est speed 45MPH. Just Be happy that your OK. You should have had your seat belt on, at least the belt would have tightend up and pulled you back alittle. Once again, it could have been worse.
This may or may not apply, and I am in no way saying this list is accurate at this time or exhaustive (I don't want to take responsibility for anything).

It's been a while since I have been lurking around, I have installed a switch made to disconnect air bag for medical reasons. web site is www.airbagonoff.com I e-mailed muleburrow directly also since this thread is a couple weeks old. thanks
Did you remove the blocker beam from the front of the truck when you put the plow on? This might have been the cause if it is still there. I had to remove them on my 99 and 04 trucks. Just some thing to check after you get a new bag in there. I have not had a deployment in either truck, and I plow some commercial lots...gotta move, like 25 mph. Good luck
