I have a mildy built 460 with Ford cast aluminium valve covers. I have not drilled holes for the crankcase breather or pcv yet. Is it better to run a PCV valve by itself or with an open crankcase breather? Or should I just run one or two breathers on the valve covers? Thanks for the help,
Sam
you can do it either way. either run 2 breather caps one on each cover or run a pvc with breather on other valve cover.
most train of thought is that a pvc system is better way than just open breathers. the pvc system creates a vacuum in the crankcase that helps the rings seal better and also the side benefit of creating a little extra hp, not much, maybe 2 - 5hp max, but every little bit helps. also a little bit of help for the enviroment also.
if possible i would run a pvc system. not hard to hook up and a bit of free hp benefit too.
