LAST EDITED ON 06-Mar-01 AT 05:59 AM (EST)[p]I know this doens't have to do with the 4.9L (well, kinda does....my trans is bolted to one :P), but has anyone done this, and if so what areas should I look out for? I posted this on the transmission forum, but those guys don't like me (I must smell like fuel and not tranny fluid or something). Anyways, gimme some feedback here.....I'm dying!!!
Try B&M or Hurst, they both make truck shifters I've used in the past. I prefer the B&M over the Hurst, but it's personal preference more than anything. My racecar has a Cheetah that works real well, could be used in a truck with a little adapting (build a mount that brings it up off the floor). Summit, Jegs, Lopers, are all places that sell this sort of thing.
Thanks stair. My problem is finding one that's compatable with the E4OD transmission. Hurst has nothing, and I'm still waiting to hear back from B&M. If I'm lucky, I'll hear something tomorrow before I make my 3 hour road trip to Summit Racing Friday.
Well, finally got the scoop on shifters for the E4OD. According to B&M, any 3-spd automatic shifter will work, but a custom cable bracket may have to be fabricated for connection to the transmission. Looks like it's time to pull out the grinder, welder, and chop saw
