its not bad if its just a bush truck, it would be horrible on the road, bad on your tires of any size, not to mention it would ruin your diff. i would reccomend spending 300 and just getting a locker kit, its not hard to install if you already have your diff off and ready to weld it.

other than not being able to reuse the carrier for an open one, how would it ruin the diff? A locked rear end isnt "horrible" on the road, unless you dont change your driving habbits a little bit. I have driven plenty of spooled and welded vehicles, even on long trips with out failure/crashing..

i mean to say the carrier, not the whole diff. all i am saying is that your tires will be eaten away, and its worth it just to get either a cable locker, of if you want to spend a little extra getting a air/hydraulic locker kit.

honestly, I dont think that the wear on a locked rear ends tires are really that much worse. We had a old jeep truck with a welded rear end that got alot of miles put on it and the rears did wear faster than the fronts, but it wasnt terrible. Just my oppinion though.
