There was some rust on the underside, but leaf springs were replaced 4 years ago so I would assume even though there is rust they still have some left in em'.
Well that insurance will come down after a few years of safe driving, just be smart and don't get too many tickets. Also take it slow and easy in the snow. Good luck
I haven't bought it yet, but I am the only person who it has been offered to so there is no hurry. I do however plan on buying. The guy selling it wants to get it registered, throw some new wipers on it and take it on a last drive before he get rid of it. I am having surgery on my knee on Thursday so I will probably be getting it in a week or two. So fear not, I will not pass up this offer.
To deal with the price of insurance I am contemplating either "garaging" (not driving vehicle but it remains insured at lower price to avoid conflict with dmv) or selling my Sable.
I would hate to get rid of my Sable it is quite the vehicle, it may not be pretty and may have some cosmetic issues but even for a vehicle with 180k miles I would rather have it than any of those other 4 bangers other kids my age have.
Check with your insurance, you might be surprised, my 94 F250 4x4 is pretty cheap to insure. Compare it to a little Toyota, or a Ranger, and you will have pretty low rates.
You need to do some insurance shopping, but your age and no offense driving experince has alot to do with it. Hey and do me just one favor, please drive with your headlights on in the rain, fog , snow and dusk til dawn. I'm a truck driver and I can't tell you how many accidents that could've been avoided if the person just had their headlights on. It's real hard sometimes to see someone coming up the side of us when it's raining out without their lights on. Sorry this is so dang long. GEEZ
Only time the headlights on any of my vehicles are off are in clear, sunny weather. Any clouds or precipitation headlights go on. I feel your frustration, even driving a sedan it can be difficult to see some vehicles, especially in the snow. I also do not take kindly to those who do not use lights when not only the weather permits but CT law states whenever your wipers are on you are required to have headlights on.
