Ping Ping Ping!!! Help Help Help.
I have posted before, but any help would be appreciated. I have a pretty bad ping or "spark knock" at about 1400-1700 rpms and sometimes higher when I strain the enging accelerating. It is a lot more pronounced with load. Recently I have changed the plugs, air filter, fuel filter, cleaned MAF, fixed broken exhaust bolts and check for computer updates and there where none. I have no codes and doesn't have any other problems. I know this cannot be a normal condition
I don't think other than put a new engine in I can do anymore.
Any one have this problem and fix it

Have you tried a different brand of fuel and/or higher octane?
I recently switched my usual gas station because all of a sudden all of my vehicles were pinging, no matter what octane I was running. After the switch, everything went back to normal!

I have tried many grades, and many stations. Only 93 octane helps. However, the truck is designed for low octane fuel. I am going to take it to the dealer to see if they can tell me if there is actually a problem

OK after looking at your previous posts I do remember your issue.
Did you try the Seafoam treatment? I know not everyone on this board agrees that it's a good idea, but I've done it plenty of times. Sometimes with good results, but never with bad. My thinking is you've got some carbon buildup in the combustion chambers which is raising your compression ratio high enough to ping with the lower octane fuel.
Seafoam MAY help, but if not, the only cure is to pull the heads and do some cleaning.

I see you have a 2001 if its a early production it may have the older Y pipe. the old style will cause a knock at the RPMs you are talking about and it gets worse the more load thats on the motor.

it has the old constricted y-pipe. I was thinking of changing it to the ebay pipe, but how could that cause the ping?. I should have mentioned too that I had the dealer do a three stage carbon flush. It is my understanding that the ping is caused by fuel octane and compression pressure. Mine almost soulds like what I always thought was valve chatter, but I think it is also called spark knock.

You mentioned that you changed the plugs. What brand plugs did you go with? How many miles on your V10? What mileage did you change the plugs?
IMO...The best thing that can be done...is to have the dealer have the portable computer do a "live capture" while driving your SD. They can have you drive around for a week...then bring it back and evaluate the data captured.
Believe it or not...it could be your O2 sensors, but without "capturing" the data...pretty hard to say.

I would find a local SCT or Diablosport dealer and go to them to have your truck dyno tuned. They can put your truck on a chassic dyno under load stick a wide band o2 sensor in the tailpipe and monitor everything in real time under load. There is a good chance they can adjust the air/fuel ratio, timing and etc to get rid of the ping.
I would at least find a shop and tell them your situation and see what they suggest.

i have a 2000 and mine just started to ping and i had asked on the forums about valve chatter as well when you find a cure let me know and i will do the same my next question in were do you live i live in up-state ny and am wondering as to gas and what they may be adding or not adsding to there fuel

I live in North Louisiana. I have had other vehicles that have had minor chatter and the v10 is not bad, but surely there is a fix. It runs great, but something is going on and I have tried everything suggested except an o2 sensor. The dealer tells me that since there are no codes than they cannot help me.

I thought most engines had a knock sensor that is used just for this very thing pinging. I was under the impression that it would retard the timing to eliminate it. Just another possibility if the sensor was bad.
