I agree with msgtg. I just replaced both mine with Duralast Gold's with 800 CCA and 1000 CA. I could tell a difference instantly. The truck fired right up. It used to take a few seconds for it to start.
Thanks everyone.... I did take the other one.....that wasn't replaced and they tested it for an hour. It was dead. So you're right...You better change both at the same time. So, I installed the new batteries and it seems where the corrosion was on the negative terminal clamp, it doesn't tighten all the way. I cranked the nut really tight, but still there is a slight gap and I can wiggle it with my fingers. after hooking the two new batteries up I went to crank it, and nothing (however, now the interior lights worked) So i jumped out and wiggled the clamps to the battery terminal and wah la, she cranked over. A friend said they sell battery terminal post sleeves that give a little more width to the post so that I should be able to clamp it down tighter to the post. Anyone heard of those? this really is a great website group. I used baking soda and water to get the corrosion off the termianl clamps (man that works like a charm) i couldn't believe the corrosion coming off. I bet that for a while, I wasn't getting good charge back from the alternator and vice versa to the starter etc. I learned to check this periodically. Well..I'm learning!
