VGT control valve

Hello, I have been reading post on this web site for a while and have gotten alot of usfull information from alot of people. I have a question does any one have an 2003-04 6.0l and has changed out the VGT control valve on there truck? From what I have read on this performance news web sit is that ford changed out the VGTCV on the late 2004-06 powerstrokes to make them more responsive. I have also found out that the 2003-04 powerstroke engine can be upgraded to the 2005 VGTCV. My dad has a 2005 F350 and I can feel the difference between my truck with a chip and his with out a chip. If anyone has where did you get it and for what price? I have asked the dealership up here in Fairbanks, AK and they have no clue what I'm talking about.

the difference between the 04 turbo and the 05 turbo is that the 04 turbine (exhaust side) has 13vanes, and the 05 turbine has 15vanes.
the 03 turbine had only 10 vanes, and it was actually about 3mm larger which is why it had a tad more lag but made more HP on the top end.

dont know anything about the VGTCV having anything to with it being "more responsive" that would be done with the programming. The VGTCV is controlled by the PCM and if you have an SCT it will control the way your boost is controlled and the amount of boost you will make. hope this helps.

I have an edge juice chip on my truck and on level five my truck feels just as responsive as my dads with out a chip. I could see how more vanes on the newer powerstroke could effect some some response time but not that much. Thanks for the response though. I didn't know that info about the newer turbos.

not to offend, but edge juice is garbage. i used to have one also, i went thru several of them cause they kept failing. my buddy has gone thru 4 of them on his duramax.

on level 5 you should be literally boiling the hides off of your tires (not to mention DESTROYING your transmission)

through that crap in the garbage can and get an SCT.

if you are serious, then either your edge has taken a dump (very probable) or there is something seriously wrong with your 6.0 (unfortunately also very probable )

I have heard that alot on this form about edge juice products. I've had the edge juice platinum for about a year and ahalf and I haven't been able to peal out from a stop on level five. I was wondering what level six would do. I also have had the turbo replaced last november in Idaho because it was over boosting on my trip up to Alaska from Alabama.
