what is the loudest but still deep sounding exhaust for the 300. Would a 12-16 inch thrush glasspack split with a y pipe duals out the back sound good or would it be real bumble beeish. i heard a 4.3 s-10 with what i heard from someone was this setup. i know there will be some bumble bees but i want it to still be deep to if possible.
Well, here's [link:www3.ns.sympatico.ca/mtflemm.mac/fordpage/wavs/stock.wav|what] my 300 sounded with the stock manifold, and stock pipe back to where the cat was, a 19" Cherry Bomb welded on there, and the exhaust exiting in front of the right rear wheel. A dual exit header and straight pipes is probably the deepest loudest exhaust you'll get on a 300. Matt- In my opinion, the deep sound would come from a larger diameter tail pipe. The larger the tailpipe, the deeper the sound. On a previous rig of mine, I had 2.5" pipe from the cat to the glasspacks, then had 3" tailpipes all the way to the back of the truck. The sound was real deep. I just put a turbo muffler on my truck, and I'm a little disappointed in how quiet it is. The truck runs better, being able to breathe, but I was hoping for a little more sound. Let us know how yours turns out, because I'm thinking of going to a glasspack myself, though I wouldn't be running duals. Just running a 2.5" tailpipe to the rear bumper would increase the flow by a whole bunch, and it's a lot cheaper than duals.
No cats on it, my truck is non-emissions. The header was intended for a carburated truck, so, it didn't have any of the stuff needed for the EFI setup, so I just drilled a hole in one of the exhaust pipes and stuck my o2 sensor in there. [link:www.cliffordperformance.com|Clifford] has a header for the 91 up trucks, it's a dual exit with all the smog hookups, why they only have it listed for 91-up, I don't know. Part number is 53-0016. For 80-90 with smog, you can only get a single outlet(part #53-2760.) I don't want to sound like a Clifford ad, but, they're the only company I know of that makes an emissions friendly header for the 300.

The set up that worked for me was Clifford headers, hollowed out Cat, a Flowmaster muffler, and dual exits to 3.5" tips. Thoes of all know that the 300 is not a real loud engine anyway unless you just run open manifolds (wich sounds like crap) or mash on the peddel with nothing but a smile muffling the exhaust (it doesnt sound good...too redneckish.) The flowmaster and a highflow cat make is sound great. It gives is a metallic sound that is not too loud but you will know it is there. The Cat does muffle alot of the sound so if you can get away with it run the SOB through. That will make it a little louder. I have heard if you run true duals it would make it even louder. But i like the room i have and have a hard enough time gitting to the starter with my single outlet headers! Its only my oppion....
And dang it! why did (i forget who) have to put thoes sound clips of the 300 on here! I MISS MY TRUCK!!!! I want to get it running and that didnt help at all! haha...sounds good....
