I am back with another what if. I am in the process of rebuilding a c6 for my 352. I am trying to decide which direction to go for the torque converter. The internals of the 352 are stock as far as I know but fairly recently rebuilt prior to my purchase of the truck. It has headers, Edelbrock Performer with a Edelbrock 600 4b, and a mallory electronic ignition. So, my question is, should I go with a low stall or a 2000-2500? I originally had plans to install a Comp 268h which would lead me to believe a higher stall would be better. Since the FE family is known for its torque I was thinking that a low stall towing converter would be a good choice. The mileage would also benefit with the low stall. So what would the truck do with a low stall and a comp 268h cam? Would it fall on its face or would the FE torque make it interesting? If I don't go with a low stall I was thinking of putting a 10" 2200-2500 stall conveter. What would some of you guys do.
I plan to do moderate towing and sometimes the occasional WOT fun. Mileage is a consideration, but we are talking about a FE also.
It has 3.50 gears in it right now. I also have a 2.75 set sitting in the shop.

well the 268 isnt all that big of cam....I would just use the stock verter, I think they stall around 1500 to 1700 depending on the build...weight and a few other things.. JMO..

I agree with Russ on this one! Don't go past 1800 if it was me! A real small stall will work fine or a stock converter. Since you are planning on doing some "moderate towing" with it.
If you stuff those 2.73 gears in ride.......You might be surprised on the gas mileage that you will get!!! Your towing might suffer a little. Or you can get a gear reduction kit for your C6! I dropped one in my Diesel and I can really bring the house down with that set-up. LOL JMO
I'm running a TCI saturday night special. If I recall is is just a couple of hundred rpm up over stock. It has worked great for me. What I can tell you is the converter starts engaging at around the 600 rpm range. So depending on your cam it want load it up at idle.

It shouldn't load up at idle with that cam (268H). Like I said, Stock converter will be fine but NO more than 1,800 stall!!! It will run fine on a Stock converter. You can get a Heavy Duty stock stall type. That might be worth it for what you are trying to do but each to there own......JMO
