I am changing the 2wd front end on my 92 f150 to a 4wd front end. I can't get the pitman arm off of the power stearing box (broke a puller) so I was going to take the drag ling off at the pitman arm. Anyone know how to separate them? What type of tool do I use? Thanks
Use the appropriate size separator fork to take the drag ling off at the pitman arm if thats how you want to do it, be careful of the rubber boot when doing so as not to cut or tear it. That can be tough in itself.
I know the pitman arm can be hard to pull off the sector shaft, I've had to use a puller and lots of heat to get mine off to replace the sector shaft seal the last time.
Every time I had to pull a pitman arm off for a new seal, a drop arm for a lift kit or a new steering gear box or what have ya I've regretted it, knowing it was not going to be fun.
