pulled 13500k over 6000 miles
every gas station needed to come out and turn the pumps on and poor antigel down the pump head to unfreeze the handle, wowowow, diesel cost me $220 american to fill up per tank (30 gal) while getting 10 to 11 mpg. (that was good),,,,,,,,, total fuel was around $3K. hummm, i love my new nitto terra grapplers, on one pass on an ice patch over 6% grade in 4x4, first gear manual, at 40 mph making 30 lbs. boost for 20 min. some where in british columbia i crested the top with only loosing about 6 inches of traction one time, those are e. rated and ride really nice with no road noise. and they look pretty mean too. any how, only thing new is belt idler bearing going out and cold side of turbo is discollered something bad, but hot side looks fine, any one know why my turbo turned brown/bronzed like it was really hot but pyro only seen 1250 deg. also to add, ive never heard my clutch fan before, after 2 years living in alaska, as soon as i pulled the grape vine, it started growling at me on and off, by the way, for those of you who have pulled the grape vine, its nothing compared the the mountain passes of british columbia in the winter. thanks for listening, as i was very excited to talk about my trip, not to mentiion the huge white tails i saw, caribou, buffalo and wild horses too.
and sorry eugene, didnt make it too vegas, the wife wanted to see the beach after being in alaska for the past 5 years, and a note to all, if you plan to travel to alaska via the alcan highway, be over prepared. if any one would like to hear any specifics, just let me know, and i hope somebody can figure out my turbo discoleration.
thanks again FTE.
and damn you had some cold wether out there. i dont think i would like it. LOL
I agree with Pete it is probably just cooked oil residue on the turbo. Get some Dawn Power Dissolver (sold at the grocery store in the dishwashing section) spray it on and let it sit for 10 mins and then wash it off with low pressure water.
