I have a chance to buy a 1970 Farm and Ranch Special. It has original stock racks and original paint and is a second owner truck with 100,000 miles. I just wondered what was special about a farm and ranch special and how many were made.

Thanks, Seth
I have a 1969 Farm and Ranch Special on our farm back in Montana. It had the toolbox in bed on the right side, there is a factory looking grill guard made of pretty good size iron. It also has the western (Semi Truck) style mirrors on both sides, badges on the rear of the cab saying Farm and Ranch Special. Mine was painted green with white two-tone, had a 360 V-8 with T-18 4 speed. Other than that I can’t tell what else is different than a stock F-series pickup. I do believe it was limited to cretin areas in the country as a special package.
I brought one in 1969 White Top Boxwood Green Bottom order it from the factory like that. The sales paper for 1969 Show Farm&Ranch Special HD battery H-D alternator H-D front and rear springs Rear step bumper Bright bodyside moldings Dual chrome Western swing-lock mirrors 9in high side cargo boards Farm & Ranch insignia. I had to go Army so I sold it Have not seen any in long time.
Seth, In case you are interested, and Bill W. da Dummy can nail it down tighter, your package group was basically the same as the Camper Special, Construction Special and I'm not sure if it had other names.
As the fireman listed it came with the side tool box and a few other items that most trucks didn't.
Most times they were 3/4 tons but some years the items were available on the 1/2 tons as well.
Thanks for the information. "stock racks" are what the seller called them (racks that go in the stake pockets to haul livestock), my guess is that they are the 9" side boards that retiredfire talked about. It is a 1970 1/2 Ton with a 302ci. and a 4-Speed.
I haven't in my area, S.F. bay area Alameda. You must have some land for your toy collection. I go to Hollister every 4th July to watch the show, your only minutes away.
