My name is Ike Ford , 26 years old , and Rod and Replica shop owner . I'm new to this forum , and just recently purchased a 1966 F100 for a shop truck . I'm looking forward to meeting everyone , and maybe you guys can teach me a few tricks about these old trucks.
Welcome aboard; you found the right source for our trucks; how did you hear about this website? Its the greatest; as you stated you will learn from some of these old gear heads for sure.
Again welcome.
Welcome To FTE, You have arrived this is without a doubt Ford Truck Heaven. I am still fairly new to this site myself, however I have gotten alot of questions answered, gotten to add a little input here and there and have had help locating some hard to find parts from other members. I look forward to reading threads and enjoy getting email updates. These guys just seem to be excited about the opportunity to lend a helping hand. You will have to post a picture of your truck.
Welcome to FTE Ike, known to the world as the nations online truck stop for online ol Ford truck tech support.
By purchasing a 66 you got an easy upgradeable truck to creature comforts. The 65-79 share bolt hole cab and front clip locations. Remove the 6 bolts along with unplugging everything and your cab can be bolted on a 79 chassis. Power steering, power disc brake, auto tranny upgrades are all bolt in exchange.
Where is your shop located? There are several members here that are in the area.

Thanks for the welcome from everyone . I love Ford trucks , besides Ford is my last name ! I grew up riding in a 1969 Ford F100 Ranger equipped with a 390 , and it's still in the family . I was going to buy a 70 F100 , but I really like the body lines of the 66 . It's a Custom Cab long bed , and I almost didn't go see the truck because it was a long bed . The long beds on these years F100 isn't so bad looking . I believe the swooping wheel opening really helps it out . My truck is equipped with a 352 / 4 speed with granny gear . It needs a little work , but I got a great deal - $500 and I drove it around 80 miles back to my shop , and have been driving it every since . The gas mileage is horrible , but after I tune it up and fix the exhaust leak I hope it will slightly improve . I live in Honea Path , S.C. and my shop is in Abbeville County . I restore classics , build Hot Rods . I also produce the 2000 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster bodies , chassis , and do the builds . If anybody is in the area and wants to come visit me at the shop call me - 864-940-4791
So are you planning on a drivetrain swap? Or you just gonna let it go?
Welcome...new here myself, but you can find more info on here in an hour than all weekend searching the internet elsewhere.
I'm going to try to keep this truck reliable and not to go to the extreme as usual . The 352 seems to be a little weaker than I would have imagined , but I will tune her up .
I named her already "Thirsty" lol . If I ever changed the drivetrain I guess it would be to a 302/5 speed , but I don't plan on it . I know where a 429CJ Engine is , and could probably get it for $200 . It was in a 72 F100 , but was not it's original powerplant . I saw it run when in that truck . The truck was full of scrap metal ,and the owner was taking it all to the junkyard (truck and all) . We asked what type Engine it had and he said a 429 , and sure enough it was . We jumped it off , got it running , and it boiled the tires even with the bed loaded so heavy the inner wheel wells were almost touching the tires . All the old guy wanted was $350 for the scrap yard cost . lol

I'm close by too over here in Gaffney. I understand thirsty. I took my truck over to the neighbors today and it ran out of gas! I had a little in the can but before it could warm back up it had ran out of gas again! I think I need a new carburetor and maybe a new thermostat. This thing runs like crap when it's cold and wet.
