Run it on the scales. You might be suprised.
Might need a diet first.
The E-SD is like a cinder block going down the road.
Its areo is the pits.
Also needs a tach.
Check the PCM code. I would like to see what it is.
Might have a Ryder (rentals) code (PIG)
A 97E can run strong. It has split inj's.
I know it is a bit heavy. But it is the same size as my 96 which runs really strong. Same engine and trans but different rears. The 96 has a 4.10. I have a tach in it (the 97) and a set of gauges. Where do I find the PCM code?
If I hit the same long hill with both trucks towing a trailer, doing 50, the 96 might drop to 40, and the 97 will drop to about 10. I think I need to get out and push sometimes.
Look under the dash above the throttle pedal. You will see the back of the PCM. The code is on the black cover. Good chance a code change/flash ect will help with the power. I would have been glad to see it was not 3.55. Its less money and work. The 97E chipped will run circles around your 96F. The E has the bigger splitshot inj's and down pipe.
MADVAN, my 96 is where you said but the 97 is on the fire wall behind the overflow bottle. I can see a lot of numbers on the area of the plug connection. Are any of these the numbers or should I pull it out and look behind it?
Get it from the backside. No need to take anyting apart.
Just look above the gas pedal with a flashlight. If the cover is not on it, then you will have to get the code from the engine compartment. You have to remove the connector to see it.
Yeh, get a programmer and it should kick the power up a bunch, particularly in the Race or Extreme mode. I have an Edge Evolution that is like new if your interested. It makes a heck of a difference in power, that's for sure!
