Engine Noise
Engine Noise
1st let me state that I know it is tough to describe sounds coming from the engine to accurately describe it. With that being said, I am having two seperate noises (I think?) One that occurs very randomly, a large clanging sound that appears to be coming from under the engine, it started after I was having "dieselig" issue with the engine near the oil pan, thought maybe a loose rod? The other sound only happens when the engine is under load and moderatley heavy acceleration, like a school bus accelerating, thought it was a loose lifter but does not appear to be?? Thanks in advance for the help!!

Get the wood broom handle out and start poking around the engine block. With the stick to your ear it will help amplify the noise and pin point the location.
You could have a broken piston skirt, allowing the piston to slap around. Not a good thing. Could be worse? Definitely find out before something drastic happens.

I think I would drop the Pan, and see what kind of treasure is in there that you can identify.....would be my first move to keep from tearing anything up anymore than it might have allready... JMO
