I want to get a valve body and have heard good things about factory tech and bts. Which one would be the best? I also want a Dp tuner, but can't do both at the same time (money reasons). I have read they can both be tuned to work with each other, but which one should I get first? Thanks
P.S. sorry if this has already been posted, probably overlooked it
if you want the tunes programmed for the VB..then do the VB first..if you do the Trans program first..the stock VB wont last long..or you will need to send the tunes back for re programing after you get the VB..
Do the valve body first, that's what I'm going to do next transmission fluid change. I always feel it's better to do all the supporting mods before the the tuner, also make sure to get guages before the tuner, or you may regret it. You will definatly need a tranny temp and a PYRO, the boost guage is up to you. Plus if you do the VB first you can get the tuner programmed to it. I personally would get the BTS VB, because you will get the credit back should you ever need to replace the tranny when you but a BTS tranny. So if the tranny ever does go it will save you about $300 on a BTS tranny.
I did the gauges then the DP tuner. I have had the DP for over 6k miles and hauled my horse trailer and run it relatively hard performance wise from time to time and have had no issues tranny wise. I want the BTS VB, but I absolutely love the truck right now.
1) Valve body (either BTS or Faubion Motorsports, Jon Faubion (405)222-0185)
2) Guages (in addition to protecting the engine, you will see the benefits from each mod as you go along)
3)exhaust/air intake
4)tuner (I run T wildman's tunes www.totaldieselperformance.com)
