Ford to Recall 1.17 Million Diesel Trucks, Vans and SUVs
December 13, 2007
WASHINGTON, D.C. --- Ford Motor Co. is recalling 1.17 million sports utility vehicles, vans and trucks to repair an engine sensor that might lead to stalling.
The recalled vehicles are from the 1997-2003 model years and have 7.3-liter diesel engines. They include the Ford E-Series van, the Excursion full-size SUV and the F-450 Super Duty and F-550 Super Duty trucks.
According to the National Highway Safety Administration, the engine's camshaft position sensor has the potential to malfunction intermittently, which could lead to stalling.
Dealers will inspect the sensor and replace it with a new one without charge. Ford plans to notify vehicle owners beginning around Dec. 17.
