Recall-Cruise Control Deactivation Switch

I see that Ford has expanded it's recall for the Cruise Control Deactivation switch to include the PSD Excursions and Super Duties. I had this repaired on my gasser SD a few years ago.

Yep. There's already a sticky thread in the 7.3L PSD forum.

I still need to do my Lightning.

My neighbor called last night to tell me this. I’ve had my 2003 7.3 X for about 4 months now and he loves it (but doesn’t own one). He laments that he’d like an X too. Too funny. I had this recall a long time ago with my 1998 Expedition too.

Thanks for the link.

Heard it on the radio this morning and couldn't believe what I was hearing...

8 years and 247,000 miles and I've never had a problem with my cruise control, but the last thing I need is for my luck to run out and walk outside to a well-cooked Excursion.

I had this recall done, it was issued twice on my 98 Expedition. Seems I dodged it with my Excursion, as they don't include the 6.0's.

I bought my 2000 V10 Ex used from a private party in September of 2006 and this is the first of heard of this recall. Is there a way to find out if I've had this done without taking my truck in?

Call your local dealership and ask for the service department. Give them your VIN and ask them to check if the cruise control recall has been done.

Stewart_H gave good advice. I called about my late 2003 7.3 X with the VIN and it's impacted. It goes in tomorrow at 9 a.m. and they stated it would only take about 25 minutes.

My 1998 Expedition had this recall about 8 yrs ago. No big deal getting it replaced.

A word of warning for those with 7.3's, if you still have the black CPS and wanna keep it, and your CPS recall hasn't been done, make sure you take your black one out and replace it with a grey one. Otherwise you'll lose your black CPS.

Also, if you don't want your PCM reflashed, like most dealerships do without your knowledge or consent, lock you OBD II port before going in.

Stewart_H,
I'm still new to most of this so I have questions. What is the black/gray CPS you speak of and is the reflash a problem only if you have added chips or for stockers also?

I have an 2000 Ex, stock everything but tires.

Also, will the recall fix my cruise/horn fuse blowing problem. I have been without a horn and cruise for over one year. Each time I replace it, it blows when I brake or use the horn.
