My Idiot light on dash for brake comes on every once in a while. My cruise will cancel when this happens. I would assume the switch by brake pedal. Correct???
Well, I suppose so. Bottom row on dash in center. Comes on at start for self test then goes off normal. Sometimes driving down road the light will pop on and fade out.
Yes...that is the light for the parking brake. The switch for that is located (if my memory serves me) right in front of the parking brake arm. Sorry...its been a while since I had to work on mine. I would check the adjustment of the parking brake and switch / connection. The only way I can imagine this would trip the cruise control, is if manual actuation of the parking (rear) brake changes the pressure in the brake line enough to disengage cruise.
I would also check the brake fluid level in the master cylinder. Or/and check the brake fluid level sensor in the master cylinder.
And isn't your 95 with cruise involved in the cruise control switch recall?? Have you had the switch replaced with the new type?? If not--the switch could be failing and causing the warning light to illuminate. This recalled switch is on the front top of the master cylinder and can cause vehicle fires if it hasn't been replaced.

Could be the VSS located on top of the rear axle. The speed sensor gives input into the cruise control AND is the speed sensor for the 'rear' standard ABS system for the pick-up truck. Primary design is to control rear wheel lock-up when unloaded. Assuming this is your 95 F-250.

This is the light.
Actually it is on the recall which I just been lazy about making appt for.
Brake fluid level is good.
Anyway of testing VSS sensor?
No way of functionally testing the VSS as far as I know. It is less than $25 and affects the ABS brake system and the cruise control, if these two systems are being affected at the same time the common element is the VSS sensor. Should also show up as a code from the EEC.
