what year

What year did they start making the 300 ci six cylinder.
A friend of mine found a intake & exhaust that he says is from a 1964. My 1978 F250 of course has all kinds of vacuum hose & pollution control. But no pump & there are a number of little things missing I think. These parts don't seem to be available any more & most mechanics I've talked to don't know what is missing. We don't have to have pollution control inspections here. I have been advised to change the intake & exhaust to a 240 ci because it is the same size & there are no pollution connections & this will eliminate vacuum leak problems. I'll need to slightly enlarge the carb mounting holes so it will fasten to the intake. If this intake & exhaust is from a 300 ci six cylinder I hope it will bolt up ok.

I checked my Ford Truck Owners Book & it said the first yr the 240 & 300 were used was 1965 . So the trucks introduced in the fall of 1964 had those engines available .
