Anyone help with step by step removal and cleaning or the install of a new MAF. on a 04 5.4? Would appriciate ANY help! Wanna try to clean it first before I fork over the bucks for a new one. Heard my K&N might be fouling it from the oil in the filter... Thanks
My advise when cleaning MAF is too, hold it upright when cleaning it to prevent the cleaner fluid entering the housing all together.....Napa has the best brand in my opinion.
Are you giving your K&N time to dry before you reinstall it? I have used a K&N on my Mustang for over 10 years and not had a problem with the MAF. If you do clean the MAF, do not touch it, only spray it with electrical contact cleaner (does not leave a residue) let it air dry and replace.
Thanks for the help, everyone! The K&N hasn't been cleaned yet, so it is still the factory oil job. Thought of replaceing it with just the regular Motorcraft filter to see if there is any improvement after cleaning. The reason for suspecting the MAF is bank 1 & 2 is showing a lean condition. Also, the crank position sensor is showing a signal error. Where to begin, where to begin....
