electronic ignition mess
I have a 1986 Ford F-250 with a 300 6 cylinder it has a one bbl carb and has the eec iv ignition system.
This truck has been mangled and abused by some seriously bad shade tree guys and a lot of the emissions stuff have been blocked off, wiring is a mess, etc.....
Replacing the exaust will now take away the o2 sensor mount and the tube for the air pump will have no where to go.
What I want to do is make this truck as simple motor wise as possible, I am keeping the truck just in case I have need of a truck to haul trash etc.... but putting it all back right is gonna be too expensive for this old beast.
OK, what I would like to do is completly rid myself of all sensors, the eec etc.... I am wondering if I can just use a old
points type distributor or possibly a simpler electronic type of distributor in the truck and if they will be compatible with my current block.
any thoughts or ideas on my this would be greatly appreciated.
