LAST EDITED ON 27-Apr-01 AT 00:57 AM (EST)[p]Well...lets just say that your saw you used probly has more HP than what you gained or will gain. as for the sound...if you have a Cat still you will not get much in the noise department. It will just be a little harsher. Just figure you should just get a good cat back system for looks and to mellow out the sound. That is all about your going to get unless you mod the engine. That is where a good exhaust does its good. Do what you want...but just keep in mind that you are not going to feel anything different. Just tring to keep you from unneeded work.

If you have cats, they will cut almost all the noise. Mine came off right behind the cats and it is not loud at all. The cats eat up all the sound. (and probably cause most of the restriction too_)

How would a glasspack sound? If i just cut the muffler off would i not have enough backpressure for this engine.

Again...if you are looking for a major boost of HP/TQ off a stock engine, you aint going to do with just cutting the exhaust down. Yes a glass pack sounds good...that is what i have now...but i like the Flowmaster sound..with a highflow cat...or no cat...what ever works. Yes the 300 likes a litte backpressure...exactally how much i dont know...i have just heard this over the years...but nothing you really do wont make a differance. If you keep the stock exhaust man. and the stock pipe....makes enought there i believe. Just remember when you mess with the exhaust the way you got your truck set up...all you are going to do is mess with the way it sounds and looks (if you put 3.5" tips on it..which also makes it sound good...mellow's it out) ....just some thoughts...
