Congrats Barry, this is Day One.

 

I actually quit on April 1st.
I just stopped, cold turkey. For no real reason. I think I just quit because i can.
I quit smoking for no reason before, in 2000. Then I think I did it just to rub my friends' nose in it. He had tried to quit a month earlier and failed. So, I just woke up one morning and said, "Meh... I don't need to smoke anymore." and didn't. Till I got back together with my Ex in 2003, then the stress pushed me back to it.

Now, I'm smoke-free again. Just because I can.


So, if I can do it for no incentive, you guys can do it for your friends and family!

 

Well I am quiting for my friends and family, and I want to make sure I do it right the first time! I don't want this to be temporary thing. Thats why I am doing these steps.Thanks for all the input and the story's,Keep them coming......

 

OK Today is the 3rd day of the pills. Tomorrow is the last day of smoking. I don't know if it's in my head or the pills are starting to work,but the cigs don't taste the same and I see myself putting them out before I'm half way done with it. I have never done that before."always smoked it until i tasted filter" LOL. I guess this system is working.....

 

That's great Barry! Uda man, now what you gonna spend the money on from all you are saving from not smoking those nasty, disgusting, killer cigs?

Hey Barry, day four right?

Phil is looking to you for inspiration. He said saturday that he needs to quit also.

 

It's day 5 with the pills. I have slowed down to under a pack a day. I THINK this pack is the last. Thursday will be a week on the meds and I should have the full effect of them. I just don't think about picking up a cig now..It feels great..

 

What kind of pills are they Barry?

 

Chantix. You have to get them from a doc. They are made to make you stop craving the nicotine.They seem to be working for me. They start at 1/2 mg a day for 3 days ,1mg for 3 days ,and then 2 mgs a day until you feel you don't need them anymore, My brother took them for 2 months and now no cigs,and no pills..I just know i can't quit by myself....

 

Thanks,,,,I had good luck with the patch before. Stopped for 3 or 4 months and got board and started again.
