Ok my relay is good! I have a CA truck so there is only one relay with four wires. The one that i am having issues with is one of the small ones. The purple wire which is a computer controlled ground is not activating. Am i stuck at this point or is there some more info that i should know. It looks like im going to have to go to the dealer on this one. If i take a ground and touch the purple wire than the relay activates. I do not have a service manual, but if someone can tell me where this purple wire goes, that would be a great help. I removed my chip after discovering that it was not designed for a ca pcm thinking that this would help which it didnt.

I don't know what year & model truck you have but looking in my service manual under 2002 glow plug relay it only lists one. Does it look like this in the motor?
The relays illustrated above are NOT the glow plug controller for the California trucks. The finned aluminum box is the glow plug controller module, unique to the CA emissions trucks; the other relay (the one with the purple wire) is apparently for the intake heater and does not necessarily come on with the key.
Are you getting a code P0683? If so, and if your glow plug are not coming on, it is most likely a failed GPCM. Do you have an aftermarket ECU chip? If so, it, also, may affect the system, because the PCM now controls the GPCM...
