help guys
i have a 97 f 350 massive fuel leak it apears to be under fuel filter bowl.runs thru the valley and out near the starter. i started pulling the bowl off but cant get it out i removed
-2 hoses in front of bowl
-took the 2 10mm screws out of the block with the change filter sensor
-removed 2 bolts in the back of housing
-took the electrical connector off on left side
-do i have to remove the water drain line?
-what am i missing???
about a month ago i had to remove the heater element from bowl did not replace it the wire had an insulator on 1 end where it atached the other end did not is there only 1 or is it possible the other one is still in bottom of the bowl ( or in the water drain maybe causing it to leak )
didnt know whether to start a thread or should i have tied this onto another fuel leak thread?
yes you have to remove drain hose and there is one behind and low in the valley that goes to pump that has to come off too.there are 2 lines on the back of the bowl total, one midway down and the other is in the valley.
thanks for the help guys.
i finally got the bowl out and it has a pretty good hole in the bottom
aprox 3/8"x1/4" oval shape.dealer wants 385 for a new complete assy.
is that hole to big to patch? is there an after market bowl? what options do i have? thanks again for the help now i know why yall call it the valley
If you're like me you will want to kick yourself if you go through all this and a patch-job doesn't work. go ahead and put the new one on, or a good used one, and know that you saved yourself enough in labor charges to still come out ahead on the deal. No sense in doing all that work again.
