Tranny help
Just bought a F250 79' 4x4, 351m, c6. Leaving my friend's house yesterday, the transmission gave me problems shifting through the gears. The column shifter feels pretty sloppy. In order for the trans to shift I am having to move the shifter from d to 2 and, back to d, but not in any order. Basically until it shifts. THIS is VERY ANNOYING. I felt and looked at the top linkage bushing on the steering shaft and it feels tight. I guess I still need to check the bottom one as well. Any input would be great. Possibly the column shift collar? Trans modulator? Trans Linkage? or actual transmission problem?

Check the rubber incerts that fits the levers. The shift tube can have problems in the column. Also check the roll pin that holds the **** lever to the collar. The pin has worn the collar real bad on my 68. If every thing is tight, check for bad adjustments. As the cab mounts go bad the cab lowers which effects the adjustment.
