up here in ND its been pretty cold the last 3 weeks. in that time, my truck has now frozen up on me 3 times as of today. the 1st time i thought i just ran out of gas so i had my buddy bring me a can and it fired right up. the 2nd time something froze up good and the gas can trick woudln't work. i changed the fuel filter and pump just to be sure and it still wasn't getting fuel. i parked it in a heated shop then came back the next day and with a little starting fluid she fired right up. it ran just fine the last 2 days then today it did it again, so i just took it straight to my aunt's heated shop again. the last 2 times it did it, there was a bottle of heat in the tank. i dont know if i just got a tank of real crappy gas or what is the deal. i've never had any problems with it before in the cold, the only thing new fuel wise is that i put a new 4bbl edelbrock carb and intake on it this fall. can anyone please help me out here?????
do you have alot of fuel in in? drain it out, i drain through 3 clear inline filters(mostly to see whats coming out) into a tank. make sure theres not a bunch of water in it. you can buy a vaccuum pump maybe even borrow from parts stores, to get the fuel flowing. if you don't think thers much water put 6 bottles of drygas in. my old plow truck did the same thing when i was up in new england. i did have alot of water in my fuel.
yeah, winter fuel, but how much water is at the bottom of their tanks? and then how much water do you have in your tank? try a few bottles of dry gas. universal electric fuel pumps work good for fuel drainage also. make the job quick.
