PLEASE HELP!!
new plugs, cap, Rotor, no change.
Changed the vacuum canister (coffee can)2 wks ago 'cause it had rotted out around the top seam and the PCV valve.
Now getting 14-16. No change in driving habits, shift at 2500-2800. Was pulling my boat to ramp 10 miles up road but didn't affect mileage.
Gonna try side gapping the autolites tomorrow. And maybe heavier wires. the stock wires tested out good but I think they've been on a good while.

My first tank after the tune-up I clocked 18.576mpg combined miles (city/highway). I filled up last night again, took my odo reading at the pumps, and again it was combined city/highway miles (including a stint at 70-75mph), but this time there were about 100 miles of SERIOUS headwinds (like 30-40mph) in there ... they cost me about 1mpg ... 17.472mpg was the most recent.
It's a bone stock truck ... new Bosch Platinum plugs, NP435 tranny, 3.08 rear end, 2wd and I figure that an 18mpg average pretty good from old Wonderstart!

74 Gran Torino Brougham ... the toy ... older and wiser ... always runs.
84 F150 2WD ... the truck ... running reliably again with a new fuel pump ... wife says, "never trust a teenager."
On the highway I can expect about 15-17. I also have it lifted 3" (more wind resistance), an emergency lightbar (can you say DRAG), and two huge antennas...and I leave the tailgate up.
The best thing you can do, imho, is draft a semi. I did it the whole way from Florida to Ohio and I gained like six mpg or more. Good thing I have the CB, though, so he knew what the hell I was doing!!!
