ok. this is getting anoying! I have a clunking issue w/ the truck.. I can feel it in the floor boards.. It's a 2x4, and it does have king pins in the front end.. I REALLLLLY don't feel like doing them! What is the component called that connects the I beam to the frame via a bushing? -For the twin I Beam FT SUSP.. It almost resembles a torsion bar, but I know it's not.. Bushing time?
Another thing... I think I need shocks.. I can do the jounch/rebound test and it's fine, but whenever I come off a very bumpy section of road, the truck's ft end continues to bounce for a couple more seconds.. Is that just a bad side effect of the Twin I beam FT SUSP, or is it time for new shox??
I think the component your talking about is the radius arm.
Your shocks may pass the test when they are cold but when you work them hard (i.e bumpy road) they will heat up and not work so well. So my guess is yes you need shocks.
Make sure the nuts are tight on the radius arms, Mine came loose and was making the same noise and feeling in the floor board. If they are loose buy new nuts there self locking teflon nuts.
I agree with replacing the shocks first. I had an annoying clunk on my 95 that turned out to be wasted/missing lower shock bushings. I replaced the shocks, and no more clunk, along with a much better ride.
