On my 95 F150 with a 302 auto, my criuse doesn't seem to wanna work to well. When I turn on cruise it takes a while( about 30-45 seconds) to kick in. Then when it does it will only go about 5 miles and the shut itself off. Sometimes it won't work at all, anybody else had this problem and if so let me know what ya did to fix it please. Thanks
I would have to assume for 95 that your cruise is electronic. It sounds like the cable running from the module to the throttlebody is bad (sticking). You should be able to trace it to the driver side fender by the hood hinge. Very easy change, take the bolt out at each end and see how freely it moves. If it does move with no resistence than odds are the module (mounted on the fender) is going out. Typically if the module goes out you won't have any cruise through.
You may also be a victim of a leaking brake switch which turns off the cruise as well. Unfortunately, turning off the cruise is a very minor problem compared to the real problem this presents. It may burn your truck to the ground. Check to make sure you've had the recall done for the brake switch. The cruise control on our vehicles is always powered up (for some strange reason), i.e., the 12V signal that goes through that switch. More than one truck has been sacrificed to the fire gods because of that switch.
