05 power stroke problems

I have been having some intermittent problems with my truck. The truck gets were it will not start up. I can hear the fuel pump and there is fuel at the fuel filter so that's not the problem. After a little research it looks like it might be the HPOP but wouldn't that be something that just goes out and the truck would not work anymore? This problem has been going on for at least 3 months now maybe more. The truck has shut off while going down the road but most of the time it just will not start up and then I can leave it alone and try it again and it works. My Banks PDA shows a code that's saying its the fuel pump, or relay but I guess that could be due to low oil pressure. Could it be a fuel pump relay that's going bad?

Thanks
Mike

Why not take it to the dealer? Its under warranty....My '05 shut down while driving ONCE and it turned out to be a defective injector....

Mike, I echo Matt's comment...why not let the dealer deal with the issue?

Because our dealer service sucks and my truck is parked in the road with my enclosed trailer behind it. If it was a relay thing I could bypass it and get everything out of the road.

My guess would be the notorious HPOP fitting or whatever it is. Seems like a way common problem on the 05s. I know theres an update on this thing.

All I know is I am tired of paying $50K for a truck and it not even getting 50K miles on it before it has to go to the shop for a week. I sold my 01 duramax because of this and came back to Ford and now its letting me down. I looked around and under the turbo and I see oil residue all over the place so I guess it must be an oil leak from the HPOP.

Mike do you have another dealership available for maintenance? Since it's still under warranty, it's a shame not to let them deal with it Pal.

Yeah Im going to call around tomorrow. Our local dealer told me last time to get the truck down there to them and they would look at it. what kind of service is that? when My GMC has problems the dealer came to my house and picked the truck and gave me something to drive. Ford wants $100 and makes you tow your own truck to the shop. At least our dealer does.

I just needed to move this thing out of the road. I pulled up in the road and moved a car and was going to back the truck in the driveway but it would not start. This was at 4:30 and the truck is cold now and still wont start up.

The HPOP is internal. If it is leaking, you won't have residue from it on the outside of the engine.

The lines are not internal are they? The line go to the fuel rails right?

hpop issues

I had a similar problem with my 05, it would start and run fine when it was cold upon startup but if I shut it off and waited more the 30 seconds it would not start until it cooled usually about a half an hour to an hour. To make a long story short it was the hpop and it was covered under warranty. I also had an oil leak that is also associated with a bad hpop. There is a website that you may or may not know about its http://www.intellidog.com/dieselmann/60bulletin.htm check it out if you haven't already it is full of handy info you can use to troubleshoot your powerstroke.
