Wrong place to post that question. Many of us are die hard Ford truck fans, who wouldn't even think of putting a competition truck parts on their blue ovals.
Installing a hitch under the bumper is much simplier. Just weld the receiver to each side of the chassis or bolt it on. You might need an hitch extention though.
I don't think there's anything wrong with the question, and luckly for Ramarado there are a few of us here who aren't as close minded as the die hard guys.
I never understood the "that came off a chevy - you CAN'T use that" mentality. Just lame IMO. Ask my why my truck will be getting a chevy rear end (Corporate 14) and chevy leafs and a cummins motor and.........
Anyways - I have never heard about the bumper thing, but a good way to tell is to measure the Chevy's frame (if you or one of your friend stooped low enough to buy a chevy so you have access to one) and see if the frame widths are the same. If the frame width is the same or within 3/4" of an inch it should be pretty easy.
Even if they are not close ANYTHING could be made to work. I know a certain someone who sectioned a late model (2001 or so) chevy bumper and put it on his 70's Ford. He will go nameless for his safety around here but it does look pretty dang good!
Seems like I read on here somewhere, sometime that a rear step bumper from a mid 90's Chevy would fit these trucks, or was I dreaming?
I want to upgrade from the painted.
Dunno about GM fitting Ford, but D9TZ-17906-B will fit, because...
....its a chrome rear step bumper that fits 1973/79.
There are Generic bumper manufacturers that make bumpers that will fit other makes of trucks other than Ford.
It seems like I read one of the "bowtie" trucks would interchange with the our model Ford, and since there are so many of the other brands in the auto graveyards, I might could get info and know what to look for.
this is kind of what I was getting at with the frames being the same. If the frames are the same general width/spacing then the bumper brackets should be VERY close to working. You might get lucky enough that the holes actually line up, but I'd think worse case scenario would be re-drill either the brackets, or frame due to different hole locations on the different makes.
If you find a bumper you like in a yard, or some other place for cheap then measure the frame widths and go from there. Or better yet - take measurements of your ford with you (or better yet - drive the ford there) when you go - so you can grab the donor bumper right then!
Good luck and let us all know what you find. I'm sure there are a couple silent types watching that would gladly "stoop to the level of" putting chevy parts on their truck if it saves them some $$$

Thanks, I'll do that! My 190,000 mile Tahoe won't be so offended if I blend some parts! lol
I bought a bumper off of a newer (around a 98 I believe) Ford that didn't have any brackets on it. I modified my stock brackets off of my tin foil like factory bumper to fit the "new" 8" drop bumper. I believe that the bumper was made by Luverne.
FYI Had a j#@koff co-worker (aka Chevy driver) say, "Hey that's a Chevy bumper!" I was like no it's a Luverne and it's all in the brakets as far as what it'll mount on.
Chevy or Ford, doesn't matter to me, it looks good on MY truck!
