To me that's not a smart purchase. Autolite makes the Motorcraft plugs, so an Autolite will work just fine. There's no sense in paying twice the price for the same plug just to have Motorcraft printed on the side.
Eric we're talking like a max of $15 here... I understand what you're saying but is it even worth arguing over? Lol, some of us just like that name printed on the side (I'm one of them).
As always, everyone is free to do what they want and spend as much as they want on whatever parts they want. For me, though, saving a few bucks with no difference in performance just makes more sense, especially when the same part can be had for half the price. I don't have a lot, so I have to make what I have go as far as it can.
Ford has stopped many of the motorcraft plug purchases from Honeywell as of 9/12/07. So the motorcraft branded plugs for these engines are no longer made. Big deal, The Autolite coper core plugs are 100% identical just a different logo.No need to pay 4.11 a plug thats just stupid. A25 plugs are 1.84 for 2 at walmart or .99 each at Kragen and Napa.
I was driving around and saw a GM auto parts warehouse that had a small Motorcraft sign on the building. I was able to get ASF42C plugs for $1.47 (list $3.84) even better I got factory motorcraft spark plug wires for $34.68 (list was $79.35) distributor cap for $27.95 (list 54.78) and rotor for $16.99 (list 33.29) and both belts for ~$32 (list over 62.00) They said the only time they could not give money savings was on special ordered parts from Motorcraft. As long as they were in stock they were deeply discounted.
RockAuto.com has a bunch of different manufacturers of plugs available, including the Autolite #25 mentioned earlier starting at $1.15 a piece, and Motorcraft ASF42CF4 at $1.55 a piece. You can see what is available by following this link - http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/rafr...&parttype=7212
I don't think I posted pics (didn't know how at the time, probably) but yeah, I definitely had problems outta the Bosch Platinum II's. The electrodes disintegrated on #7 and #8. Someone else in here DID post pics of Platinum IV's which did the same thing on the same cylinders. (Probably PCV related) My main concern is where did the little pieces of ceramic go that blew off the core of the electrode? Ceramic will not do nice things to a cylinder wall if it gets trapped between a piston and the wall. I'm gonna run a search for Platinum IV's and see what I can find. I know there's photos of some of those, and my Platinum II's looked EXACTLY the same after 5000 miles. I've long since tossed the plugs (silly me with the warranty they had), otherwise, I'd post some. Back in a short with a link to the photos, hopefully.
[Edit]
Nope, couldn't find it, but I know it's in here somewhere. Someone else wanna give it a try?

Hi, I had intermitant missfire under a load . I pulled my 8 month old Autolite #25 plugs to find 2 cracks in the insulator on one plug .Put in a new one and things are perfect once again. Anyone care to tell me why it cracked top to bottom twice ? I do have headers and duals on the truck .Thanks ,Pat

Lean mix on that cylinder, more than likely. Was it #8 cylinder perchance? The PCV gasses go primarily to #7 and #8 because of the location, and displace some of the fuel/air mix. There is a pretty good writeup in this forum somewhere about relocating the PCV tap to the center of the side of the plenum to better distribute the gasses. I haven't done this to mine yet, but am considering it. I've even thought about a spacer right behind the TB for the PCV entry, so that I make sure it gets mixed with all the air for all the cylinders. I want it burned so it doesn't make a huge mess in my engine bay, but I don't want to kill #8 cylinder with it. 155K on the clock, so I gotta start making a few mods to keep her going. While not the first new vehicle I bought, it is the second, and the ol' girl's got a lotta sentimental value. She paid for herself using her as a work ride with mileage re-imbursement, so I can't complain about what I spend on her now.
No it was #5 and the plugs were installed a few months prior to new headers and duals . The origional left manifold. was leaking on that bank along with others and I replaced a cracked egr tube at the same time I installed them . So overheating is a possibility .I also warmed (torch )up the manifold bolts to get them out .Anyhow at 165000 she runs perfect now. Smooth as silk .Thanks ,Pat

Are these the ones you are talking about or are the ones you need different?

Category: Spark Plug
If those are the ones you need we have plenty of those. send me an email and let me know.
