I had already done this on my Dad's truck (1990) when I was fighting his glow-plug situation and had to install a manual push button for him. It was what I used as the ON indicator for him.
I am real curious about just how much the plugs are used on my truck compared to others. It's hot 99.9% if the time here where I live. I know when changing/testing the GPR, it would energize momentarily, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's all.
I am going to have to do this as I am in need of another project. AFFORDABLE one too, due to XMAS .
happy holidays!
my mistake..sorry about that..you did post about doing that..it is a good mod..i havent done it yet..but have all the parts to do it..i got to do my battery cables and change my oil too..i have every thing for them too..but christmas has slowed a lot of things down for me as well..

Absolutely nothing to apologize about, Ron. I had done it but never posted about it. PROPS to WMRiceman!
XMAS has slowed a lot of things down, except the amount of outgoing money...
ok so i hooked up my led today and nothing, no light. I tested the two small connectors and they have power. The main from the bat also had power. Does anyone know the purpose of these signals because they were hot when the truck was hot and cold. I have tried to find the schematics but have had no luck. My truck is a 2000 CA model, so i only have one gpr. I think with the two small wires hot it should be triggering but why are they not turning off? Also i went to pep boys and picked up a relay which didnt work either so im thinking ill just go to ford, or i have a different problem.
Think i found my problem. The purple small wire is a computer controlled ground which is the trigger for the relay. From other research online i found that many of the ts chips were not designed for the ca pcm. I removed the chip and will see if the relay will trip when cold in the morning. If it still doesnt fire, do i need to buy a gpr controller CA only or a pcm?
Gtlegacy your CA only truck is different than the rest of the fleet. We have two relays where your one is and you have a special controller for your glow plugs.
I cannot offer any advice on how to fix it, but it sounds like you are on the right track.
Ok another question if I bought my truck in ca does that mean I have a ca only truck because I have a GPR for the glow plugs. I am I missing something,
Nick
TurtleRacing says the voltage from the GPR to the glow plugs stays on even though the engine is at operating temp. So, does this voltage continue to operate the glow plugs or does the PCM somehow interrupt the voltage between the GPR and the glow plug when the engine is at operating temp.?
