I have spoken with Walford this week and he is still alive. He has just got home from back surgery and is in some serious pain. He told me that he can't hardly get to the PC and tell us a bunch of lies. Please everybody keep him in your prayers and ask Walford about his foot trick (that will freak you out). Stay warm and keep them fat fenders rolling.
Been there on the back operation, no fun.
Hey Dude do your feet feel like you have wet socks on? Mine did for about two weeks..
They had to open up my spinal cord, I had to either stand up or lay flat on my back for six weeks.
Take it easy and get well soon.
Will be praying for a quick recovery so you can get back to working on the truck and entering in that sit up contest you've always been wanting to enter. LOL... Serious side, get well, back pain is no joke! We'll keep you in our thoughts.
Thanks guys---I am now able to sit for a while. I have been in pain for 13 yrs -but now this was scary!! I want to let you in on a fact that I learned while in the hospital. That is---if you do not care to get over the pain---no-one can do it for you!! I have an entire back of bad discs--and a muscle disease from it too. I was in so-much pain I passed out and still have along way to go.
Lastchance55 is a real asset to FTE. I think his phone call helped me as much as the anti-inflammatories that I receive or more. He is a truck-lovers almanac---especially when you feel like giving up.
I am 50 and my body is 90. Comes with all the steel/fab and machine work over the yrs.
I will continue to collect 56 ford trucks---but will be slow and deliberate now. I realize pain will bring down an elephant and am dealing 1 hour at a time.
I want to thank ksmith203 for his generosity and Andrew-MR 4SPEED for his kind words and even thank kevinbigwin for their help and advice.
Frank Cowan --I have your chain-lift? and hope to sti;ll be able to visit soon in Florida.
That leg trick is my right leg turns completely around and no idea what can stop that--but Rodney thoughtbit was freaky!! haha!!
I am back--but not in the saddle yet. Hospitals really are depressing and coming home to look at my trucks was worth a million bucks. Thanks Guys!!!! walford
Yes indeed, only by own own desire will we be free of pain in short order. Will power is a strange thing and it can lessen the need for drugs. Cronic pain is not to be underestimated. Glad to hear that you are out of the hospital Walford, may God see you advance back to health.

I feel for ya; I broke my back in 91 in a head-on car crash. Lady thought she needed both lanes, I just couldn't get out of her way. Back pain is the worst, Just take it one day at a time. Good days are just around the corner. God Bless get well soon.
I'm very glad to hear that the surgery went well and you are able to get back up and around a bit. I know it will be a slow process. Do what the docs say and try not to overdo it. Remember, there is always a friend around to help.....don't be bashful about asking for help if you need it.
Yes get well soon!! GOD bless!! I had no idea you were in the hospital? We'll put you on our prayer list here and at church!! My mother has arthritis real bad and is heavy on top of it all. We made a lift to lift her out of the bathtub and we made a 4" riser to go under her Lazy boy chair to help her get up. We also made a lift to go on the back of her car to carry her scooter. MOM is happy! If you need any plans on how to do some of these things if they'd help you, contact me. I have pics and all kinds of stuff for this kind of thing.
Recuperate quickly! I like that leanin' tree card that shows a broken down old cowboy and the caption reads, "If I'd know I was gonna live this long, I'd a taken better care of myself."
Oh to be young again with the knowledge we have now.......
Thanks ALL!! I used to think all pain was the same. Now I know better. I have a great wife and 5brothers and sisters and all help out. I think FTE was the best thing I ever did on the computer. I hope everyone the best and thanks again!! Bill
Bill,
Glad to hear you are doing better/well! One of my best friends is a couple of weeks ahead of you on his recovery. After watching him I am sure the others have it right-the harder/smarter you work during recovery/physical therapy, the faster/stronger you get. And do listen to the Dr's and therapists as they do seem to know what they are talking about! Must have been all that schoolin'!
We will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. And thanks to Last Chance 55 for keeping us updated.
Good Luck!
