Hi everyone just signed on and would like to say hello. And as always got a big ?
Has anyone every had there powerstroke just completely shut of while driving say 40mph down the road? I have had this happen to me twice now, 1st time about 1500 miles ago which is about 3 months for me, The dealer told me they could not find anything the 1st time(no codes) and said sorry. Now agian today, completely dies while driving no power steering and no power brake just rolls to a stop! This is very scary and I could not even think if I was towing my trailer @ 12,000lbs what could of happened with my family in the truck!
The truck is a 2004 f350 4x4 crew cab long bed with 28,600 miles on the powerstroke 6.0L.
Thanks for any help, I can actually say I am scaried to put my family in this vehicle as of now! And believe it or not I am a true FORD guy!!
It was just me and my 2 year old duaghter in the truck today when it hapened!
The first time it was just me. As for the fluids, The dealer has it
right now so we will see.
I forgot to mention the truck would not start for at least 5 full min. It would just turn over with a strong battery. then after 5 min at least the truck finally with alot of hesitation started and I drove it strait to the dealer! Bolth times the truck did the same thing! Thanks Again Brent
My guess is something with the fuel. Could be gellin up or your one of your filters could be clogged. Not sure though. I'm sure someone more in the know will have some better advice for you.

Did your truck have to go in for the FICM harness recall? I had similar problems of stalling and would not restart right away or easily. They replaced the FICM harness and EGR valve and all has been good. Unfortunately we are unsure which one of the two was actually causing the stalling.
Thats Good stuff! Thanks The egr valve was brought up from the mech. the first time but all he did was clean it. I was told at that time if it was a EGR valve problem it would have been smoking pretty bad. And that was not the case at all, I got no smoke either time just stoped running! The fuel filters were one of the first things we looked at, and all is good. Thanks for the replys keep em coming...Brent
I didnt even know about a FICM recall, matter of fact I just did the recall lookup deal on this site and it shows nothing but something to do with trailer wiring and tires. Thats it. was this recent?
Check (or have the dealer check) your CPS sensor.....sounds suspect to me
I second that, our 7.3 had the same issues as he's discribing and we dropped in a new sensor and it's good to go for another 200k. Mine actually started acting up when I had a small load on the trailer and I was not a happy camper!
Did your truck have to go in for the FICM harness recall?
That's exactly what it sounds like to me... They would just die with no indication of any prior problem. There is a rough way (for us regular folks) to test for a bad harness by simply picking up the wires/harness a few inches and let them drop back down in place. Repeat a few times to see if it will die when the wires are dropped. Also, check in the 6.0 tech file for more info-->https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...ch-folder.html
You guys are good! Thanks you for all the great info!! I just want to be able to put my family in the a truck thats safe. Even with a small load when the lights go out! Hang on cause there no power, very scary!!!Like I said before Im writing a list of stuff to take to my mech. So thanks for all your help, and keep it coming...Brent
Yeah, theres no codes to seen, not even a check engine light nothing!
