4R100 PSD 7.3 question

I have a 2000 PSD superduty 7.3 dually. I have noticed since the weather has turned cold my truck does not shift well when cold. It takes about a city block for it to shift from 2nd to third and another couple of miles for it to go nto overdrive. What gives?

It is a cold shift strategy to help the truck warm up faster. It's normal.

yeah, I have a 99.5 and it does the same. I asked our fleet maintenace mechanic and he told me exactly what Mark said.

Thanks to all who replied. We had a 70 degree day here this week and all is back to normal shifting so I think you guys are right on.
