Im going to be ordering my tuner tomorrow and I was wondering if it would be safe to run on the 80 econ tune for 14-16 hours from school up in maine to <ST1Virginia </ST1with out gauges. I have the gauges at my house. I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with egt over long periods of time on the 80 econ tune. 1999.5 f350 110000miles auto trans mods -4" mbrp turbo back -afe stage 1 intake -ccv
in 80 econo I have to be really pulling a load hard to have a problem with the egt's on mine, just heading up the highway I never see the temps anywhere near dangerous or even remotely high so you should be just fine.
You'll be fine. As long as you don't stand on it forever -- even the 80E tune can get the EGTs up there. But like monster said -- you really have to be under a lot of a load before it gets dangerous. The pistons can take brief bursts well over the melting point of aluminum (~1220 degrees), but it ain't good to keep it there long obviously...
