I have the 19 gallon long gas tank that goes on the 8 ft box. Problem is the straps have rusted away and i'm on my 3rd set of "universal" straps from the auto parts store. Well, they don't last real long and the Ford dealer's replacement price is out right scary. Any ideas to a better way to hang a tank?

I got a set from JC Whitney -- about 22 bucks as I recall - may have been a discount. They looked OK and fit well. I've had them on for about six months - still look OK.

I found myself in the same situation, when I high centered my truck on a concrete embankment. Don't ask :-) That hunk of rebar cut the front strap, and put a 5 inch deep dent the length of the tank. I just found a stepside at the junkyard (always a sad sight) and snagged one of it's straps.
Still holding up great! It only cost me two bucks too!
