the hi volume pumps are known for breaking a stock pump drive shaft. the mechanic that installed it should have installed the proper one. i would at least make him purchase the part.

Sorry, wasnt clear enough in my post. Like Kemical just said, cheap oil pump drive shaft + high volume pump = broken oil pump shaft. A high volume pump is not usually necessary especially if the engine isnt prepared properly, it can be bad, can push stock plugs out of oil gallerys, increased aeration and windage, broken pump shaft, not to mention if its of high enough volume it can nearly empty the pan and fill the lifter valley

Change the oil pump to a standard one. Put in a new oil pump shaft and the mallory distributor in that Bronco thread. That should take care of those issues. I regularly run my 5.0 with those parts up to 5000 rpms. No issues here.
