exhaust rip
You mean make the carbed 300 log manifold into split manifolds like the EFI has? Most people just get a set of the EFI manifolds. Definiely the way to go though. Dual manifolds are better than a single because with dual each succesive cylinder firing is alternating manifolds, so there is no pressure from the last exhaust event to hinder the next one.
Search around here or at www.fordsix.com (where 300 performance is the focus) and see what is involved. Should just bolt up but may be a few things you need to do besides. But yeah, they supposedly flow quite well that headers are not much better and the bonus is they are cast iron and so much more durable than headers. Still think you want to Y into a single pipe somewhere near front of cab.
The stock Intake/Exhaust log manifolds are bolted together so the Intake is heated by the Exhaust. With EFI manifolds that feature is lost.

You can make a plate like the one in the Pics, bolt it to the bottom of the Intake and plumb heat to it using it inline with a heater hose. 3/8-1/2 aluminum plate will work drilled, tapped and plumbed for heater hose barbs. The appropriate gasket used between the two manifolds works fine as a pattern for the plate.

No, it wouldn't be the same as the EFI manifolds.
Don't bother trying to modify the old log, toss it and get the newer style at the wreckers. Just today I got both EFI exhaust manifolds and a near new Walker Y pipe from a wreck for $30 (and 3 hours).
I hope to be able to take my truck off the road next week to get it all switched over. My exhaust bolts have been in there for 27 years so it may be a bit of a struggle. Wish me luck.
