Timing problems

My truck hicups at lower rpm when accelerating. Fuel filter helped but changing the timing seemed to help more than anything. Where is this shunt connector the keep talking about on a 95? They say it is a one wire connector , the only thing I can find on the drivers side close to the firewall is a connector with a grey cap. Is this it? I think getting the timing right will help my prob. then I'm going to change plug wires, cap and rotor even though they only have 20000 miles on them. Thay are still 13 yrs. old. Any advice? use all the help I can get.

little plastic plug that jumpers two wires together, I think you'll find they are "pink".
