removing plastic running boards

after the leveling kit and the 350 blocks i wanna make the truck look a little higher. plus i am kinda tired of the truck getting hung up on them when off road. what does everyone think about taking them off?

I actually broke my plastic ones off on the trail, and then unbolted the remains in about 10 minutes. If you have a super cab, what are you doing with those boards? I need a set to keep the salt of the bottoms of my doors and rockers as much as possible

kinda but will the '08 borads bolt onto the '06 body. Mount all the same. I have an FX4 with the factory chrome tubes and want to put on the plastic. My wife has a fear my little kids might slip and get their legs between the body and the tubes and do some damage if they then fell backwards. I like teh '08 plastic boards better than the older ones.

When I broke them I didn't actually know it, but as soon as i started to get a footing they just fell right off! All i did was go up a 60 degree incline that was maybe 4 feet tall, as soon as I started to climb up the hill they bottomed out. It was nice to have them warn me I was very close to a more serious problem though! I backed off and thankfully did not beach my truck and ruin the body!

yeah well maybe if i take them off i should make myself a set of rock rails to go under the truck to keep from wrecking the body...cause that would suck. i gues i never realized how much they actually help to keep that from happening...

The cabs are the same, so they will fit. I took the plastic boards off of my '08 and put some brand new (manufactured in '04) black aluminum Ford step bars on.

The guy I sold my '08 boards to put them on an '03, no problem.

The newer plastic boards are pretty nice. Solid molded with only the brackets being steel. Should hold up well in snow country.

the brackets on my 2000 f-350 plastic boards basically rotted off so i ordered a set of bully side steps, just the loops.... im not a very big fan of running boards but with the summer wheels and tires on its kinda hard to get in especially for the lady.
