well im looking at an F-350, i had another post asking questions about them, but my main question is, im going to be towing almost every weekend. Ill be towing some construction equipment, like skid steers and ill be towing scrap metal every weekend. How good will the 6.0 tow 10k or more? thanks

Pretty sad if it won't - the V10 hauls 14K without breakin a sweat.....

well i was more worried about the low end lag that people talk about. when i drove it it didnt feel like it had any lag, but that was with no load on it.
10k is absolutly no problem with these trucks, just put it in tow/haul and go! I was towing a 9k trailer last summer and in tow haul reving it up to 2500rpm I was accelerating as fast as the other cars on the road. 2500rpm is basically the lowest it will shift when it is in tow/haul anyway, so the truck was barely working.

Unless you punch it right off a dead stop you shouldn't experiance any lag at all(and if your hauling 10k+, I wouldn't advise any hard launches anyway) in the lower end. Do gradual starts, not to slow to make people angry behind you, but not too fast that you ruin your truck by trying to win a drag race and you'll be fine.
Make sure you have a good brake controller and the brakes on the truck are in good shape you should be ready to go.
I find with my 6.0 in the 03 F-450 I have to use low gear to start off my truck is a 6spd manual. Loaded or empty there are times first gear isn't low enough because the 6.0s don't allow throttle response and low rpms. Its part of the emmission system to limit smoke at take off
My truck has 4:30 axle gears which is too tall for me its good for highway but for where I live I can rarely use overdrive its too tall so the truck spends most of the time in 5th gear.
The heaviest load I had on the truck grossed the truck to 17,000lbs it was a little touchy trying to get the truck rolling even in low gear.
I do like my 6.0 it has the get up and go once the truck is rolling

so in tow/haul, will it come out of OD easier than it would if the TH was off?
like in TH mode, if i hit a hill will it downshift while it will stay in OD with TH off?
Better never get in an accident. Your fault or not, they will pin it on you for being WAY overloaded!
Not too smart in my opinion.
He doesn't have to get in an accident, if he gets pulled over for speeding more then likely they will cite him there for that as well. Here all the cops have to do is take a look at your tags(it says the weight that your allowed to haul, or tagged to haul) and look at the weight limit on the trailer, if the weight limit on the trailer is greater then what your tagged to haul they can cite you. Mind you this is sticker weight of the trailer, not actual weight, if you want to cover yourself there then you have to go to scales and get your weight there and that will forgo the ticket, otherwise that's how they do it. Places like Ohio I have heard are very bad about that.
