I want to make my truck sound and perform better..Talked to a couple of guys at a local muffler shop that deals in Flowmaster. They both told me a lot of people that had dualled their V-10s out have not been real happy with the results, in that it sounded kinda like a V6 when all was said and done and that the increase in power and milage was very marginal at best. My truck is a 2001 XL manual transmission "work animal" with the 6.8V-10.
Just did the brakes, clutch, front end and some other minor things to begin its "second life" I love the truck and have been thinking of upgrading the exhaust system for a number of years now, but after talking to these guys I just don't know. Anyone have any thoughts on the matter?
Thanks
Change the y pipe and add a muffler. No need other than visual to do a dual set up. I have a FM 70 and am happy with the sound. The V10 will never sound like a V8. It is kinda a aquired taste to hear it on a daily basis. If you want to increase power with a exhaust mod do headers, y pipe, and change the muffler.
I have the full banks powerpack on mine with a FM 70 and I really did a great job above 3K rpm. 3K and lower not much change is power.
